Eleven Things You Must Know About A Drop Shipping Directory And It's Company

At a minimum, there are eleven key parameters you should take into account when considering a drop ship directory:

1. Balance - You want to find a directory rich in many different categories of products rather than the quantity of products available. Many of the directories try to advertise how many products are available in their directory (i.e. 500,000 products). Why is the number of categories important? A directory will not serve you well if it has hundreds of thousands of products, and none of them are in your product interest category. A directory with a good balance has focused on their categories of drop shipper products rather than the quantity. This gives you a better chance of finding something for your line of business.

2. Uniqueness - You will want a directory with uniqueness amongst it's drop shippers. The drop shippers should offer a wide array of unique products that are not necessarily mass marketed. Why? Web sites offering unique and unusual products often do well on the Web versus sites trying to sell big brand name products that you can find with a mega retailer such as Wal-Mart. A directory offering a bunch of big brand name product drop shippers could land you in the highly competitive commodity market against the mega retailers.

3. Selection - A directory with a good selection of drop ship categories is important. The number of drop shippers or the number of products a directory carries should not be the goal. The goal and question should be, "Do they have a drop shipper that would fit my line of business?" A common mistake for many folks is getting fixated on the quantity of products a directory might offer with it's drop shippers. The question they start to ask is, "A directory with over 1,000,000 products ought to have something for me to sell." Wrong! Be sure to remember the first parameter we mentioned. Balance.

4. Search Method - The directory must explain the methods they use to find drop shippers. Be careful of directories that do not publish their search methods. If they do not explain their search methods, they may not have a solid search methodology. The directory could be full of a bunch of middlemen. At that point, the directory would be worthless to you. Directories using search methods such as trade show searches and foreign government agency searches are preferred over directories only focused on Internet searches. Why? Not all drop shippers and importers have a Web presence. A directory based on a bunch of Web searches could be missing some of the best hard-to-find drop shippers.

5. Sample - A sample of the directory should be made available to give an idea of format and information provided. The actual names of the drop shippers will not be given in a sample, but you will get an understanding of the type of information provided.

6. Price - This is a subjective parameter but there is something to consider. As an observation, most legitimate directories on the Web today are sold between the $60 and $100 price mark without any markdown. If you find one good drop shipper in a directory and you sell their products on your site, you could find your directory investment paid off quickly with just a sale or two.

7. Education - The company selling the directory should have a website fairly resourceful with FAQ's and articles written by it's own research staff or owner. Topics should include drop shipping, ecommerce, importing and general FAQ's about drop shipping. Watch out for directory sites only containing FAQ's about their directory and not drop shipping.

8. Custom Search - Find out if the company offering the directory will do a custom search for a drop shipped product. A custom search can sometimes be done under certain conditions with the directory's parent company. As of this writing, Hienote is the only directory company advertising this type of service.

9. Toll Free Number - You should be able to talk to the folk's offering the directory without paying for the call. Contact by email only is not acceptable! Also, be leery of directory sites without a toll free numbers or only a cell phone number given as this could be a suspicious con artist.

10. Customer Service - Any online business that cares about its customers should have a section dedicated to customer service. A company that offers a drop ship directory is no exception. It should have a section of it's site dedicated to customer service. At a minimum it should have a toll free number, mailing address (not just a P.O. Box number!), email address, hours of operation, and a phone number for calls outside of the country.

11. Money Back Guarantee - A money back guarantee is always important to have with a directory. You want a way of getting your money back if the directory does not live up to it's promise. Be sure to examine the guarantee policy.

With these eleven parameters you should now have have enough knowledge to get you started in the right direction for evaluating a drop ship directory. In addition, hopefully this has given some food for thought in terms of considering a drop ship directory for your online business.

How To Find Products To Sell On eBay

Have you wondered how to find products to sell on eBay? One key for business success in eBay is sourcing products to sell. The first questions eBay sellers ask themselves are: "What can I sell?" and "Where can I buy?"

There are two kinds of sellers on eBay, garage sellers and business sellers. Garage sellers are people who sell products they are not going to use any more and that are usually not new. Garage sellers are not profit driven, their main objective is usually to get rid of some stuff they don't need. They will be happy to make some money by selling something that is no longer useful to them. On the other hand, business sellers are people who will buy and sell products for profit, they consider eBay a business and need to earn profit on the products they sell.

The first key to success for business sellers is an old marketing rule, RESEARCH. The products to sell on eBay are products that eBay buyers will want to buy. Apart from being a massive market place, eBay offers you a cheap source of research that you can conduct without moving from your computer.

If you are a business seller, it is fundamental that you spend some time researching before you decide which products you want to sell. Follow these research guidelines:

1. Search for the categories that are most popular. The first index is the number of listings that exist under each category. In addition, you need to look at how many bids the products have.

2. Look at the ratings of the sellers who are listing products in each category and study their profiles. See how many products they are selling and how many products they have sold in the past.

3. Analyze prices. You need to become an expert in your category and you need to know at which price a product is worth buying as well as the expected final winning price of your auction.

4. Select no more than one or two categories. "Specialization" is another basic rule of marketing. It is better to become an expert on something, as this will inspire confidence and trust in your potential customers. Online marketing is all about trust.

For conducting good research, you need time and organization. There are different software programs in the market that can help you save time as well as optimize your research.

Now that you are becoming an eBay expert and have conducted a proper search, you are almost ready to start your business. Before starting to sell, you need to buy! Here are some ideas from where you can source products:

1. Write your own e-book and sell it. If you have any passion or are an expert on a subject for which you can find a niche in eBay, do not hesitate to spend some time on writing your own book. The advantage of this is that after your initial time investment, you can sell and sell copies of the book without having any additional costs. Selling information products is one of the most profitable businesses. Even if you are not an expert writer, you can find other people who can write the book for you.

2. Use drop-shipping. There are wholesalers that will sell you products and send them to the address that you tell them. The advantage of this source is that you do not need to carry inventories, so your investments are minimized. After your auction is finished, you send them your customers address and they will do all the shipping. If you decide to use this kind of source, you need to make sure that your auctions winning price can be higher than the price you will pay for the articles. At minimum you should expect to double your costs.

3. Buy from eBay. Many eBayers success comes from knowing how to buy well on eBay and sell the same products at a higher price. If you know your category very well, you can easily find opportunities that will allow you to buy and resell making profit. Again, solid research is fundamental.

4. Buy Asiatic products. If you are willing to carry some inventories, you can invest on Asiatic products and buy them for a very cheap price. You can easily start importing Asiatic products from the Internet at www.alibaba.com.

5. Sell local products. If you live in an area that produces local products which can be bought at a cheap price and shipped to other areas where people would pay more, you should take advantage of the situation.

Hopefully after reading this article you will see there are alot of ways to find products to sell on eBay! As with any business you are better off to try multiple avenues for finding products and not just limiting yourself to any one thing!

Launch Your Home-Based Retail Business Through The Roof!

You had a great idea when you decided to open a home-based Internet retail business. You became a "power seller" as people in the online retail business world call you. Your goal is to move tons of merchandise through Web auction sites and classifieds services without ever leaving the comfort of your home office. Drop shipping gives you the opportunity to accomplish your dreams and more. The sky is the limit if you know how to get your business off the ground.

Drop shipping can launch your business into successful orbit, but it isn't rocket science. With this unique way of doing business, you enlist the services of a wholesale merchandise company. The wholesale company takes care of the stockpiling and storing of your product. It even covers the shipping and handling charges when one of your customers orders an item.

This means you don't have to rent thousands of square feet to warehouse your inventory, and you're free from the liability that comes with direct delivery to your customers. Your only expenses are the membership fee of your particular wholesaler, along with the fees and percentages you lose to advertising and auctioning online. If you play your cards right with these fees, you can build yourself a very cost-effective and most importantly, profitable-home-based business.

Experienced online retailers have learned the tricks of the trade to do just that. Here are the key secrets that they, your competitors, don't want you to know. These three tips will stack the deck in your favor, helping you to grow your clientele while avoiding the pitfalls of doing ecommerce.

Get sold on your wholesaler. Nowadays, wholesalers are a dime a dozen, so don't settle on the first one that comes your way. Let wholesalers compete for your business, instead of the other way around. Many companies may offer specials to new prospective retailers. They may waive the minimum order requirements, credit check, and prepayments if you sign up with them. Top-notch wholesalers could also offer international delivery or special net payment options. Avoid high expenses at the get-go by taking advantage of such specials, and turn a profit a lot quicker.

Sniff out whole-scammers. For every honest wholesaler looking to build a successful relationship with you, there's a crook out there looking to do nothing but build his bank account at your expense. Avoid any wholesaler, for instance, who demands you pay an advance fee before you sign up with them. Be wary of wholesalers who claim to have thousands of items in their selection. These might not be wholesalers at all, but middlemen who are trying to bluff you. Instead of actually stocking these thousands of products, they actually buy them from a wholesaler, or another middleman, and resell them to you at a jacked up price, thereby cutting into your profits.

Get wired to the Web wisely. You now have a trusted Wholesaler and outstanding products to move, but so do thousands of other Internet retailers. How can you stand out to attract customers and save money doing so? One way to make a mark online is to design and write your own ads for your products. Many wholesalers provide complimentary stock product photos and descriptions that you can use in your online ads and classifieds. Then again, they provide the same thing to all their retailers. Most retailers use them. So you shouldn't.

Another effective way to sell on the Web is to find new and innovative sites to sell on. The main auction sites are often crowded with retailers who are eager to undercut your prices. Plus, these auctioning sites tend to have high fees and shorter listing durations. Avoid competition and high prices by trying the next generation of premiere selling sites, such as free online classified sites.

Free online classifieds services work as powerful avenues to sell your goods. They offer attractive features your business needs to take off, such as:

No sign-up, registration, or transaction fees.
Free listing (text description and image upload).
Up to 60-day ad listing. This listing duration is light years longer than most other sites and renewals are free as well.
Distance calculator. This function comes in handy if you're concerned with locality.
These free online classified sites can be the ace up your sleeve, whether you're just launching your home-based Internet retail operation or trying to shoot for the stars with an established business. Strap yourself into your chair and count down to ignition.

eBay Success!

Everyone has heard incredible stories of people making big money on eBay selling stuff from their attic or "junk" they pick up at garage sales. While these stories make the most skeptical of us tingle at the thought of easy money, hard work and determination are the key words for selling on eBay. Sure, there is always the "fly by the seat of your pants" approach, but if you are serious about making money on eBay, my wife, Rachel, has learned what doesn't work on eBay from countless hours of trial and error. She has written the following advice for those of you who are serious about making a profit with eBay:

1. FOCUS - Choose something to sell that you already know about; preferably something that you love! When you are already familiar with an item, you don't waste time wondering whether it will sell or how much you should pay for it. My experience with garage sale shopping and hoping that I picked things that people wanted to buy was a total flop because I didn't know what I was looking for. I ended up with piles of stuff that I couldn't sell and wasted lots of time looking for garage sales. Those of you who have done this, know the total frustration of a wasted Saturday morning.

2. RESEARCH - The other option is to research on eBay what is already selling and then find a cheap source of that item. Garage sales are a good way to find stuff if you already know what you are looking for. Call ahead to garage sales that are listed in the paper and ask if they have what you are looking for. Don't waste your time and gas poking around town looking for sales that don't have what you want! Garage sales work best if you know a lot about antiques or collectibles. These items sell well on eBay, but they only work for people who know what they are looking for and how much antiques and collectibles are worth. Other things that sell well on eBay are items that have a model number or item number or an ISBN number (this is for eBay's sister site Half.com which lists books by ISBN numbers - this is great for selling old textbooks or out of print items!) People go to eBay looking for deals on electronics, brand-name clothes, video games, computers, and software. Things that can be easily identified with words sell well on eBay. Things that do NOT sell well on eBay are things that don't have a hard and fast description; items that need to be touched or smelled or rely on aesthetics to sell. Home interior items are examples of things that DON'T sell well on eBay. People who shop eBay are looking for something specific. If they don't already know about what you are selling, they aren't going to just browse eBay's categories looking for your items. Use this as a guide when choosing what to sell. The best way to find cheap sources for these items is to work out a deal with a wholesaler. This way you get the best possible pricing and you can still make a profit! Because, remember, people shopping eBay are looking for a deal!

3. CONSIDER DROP SHIPPING - This is the best possible method that I have found for making eBay a profitable enterprise. (Unless you are going the route of antiques and collectibles) Drop shipping eliminates the need for storing your items, packaging, and shipping them. This ate most of the profit that I would have made because it took so much time to do all of this. And most of us don't have an empty room we can devote just for storing stuff for eBay and even if we did, we have to come up with a system for inventory. You end up with a lot of the headaches that traditional businesses have to deal with. SO, the BEST way that I have found to make eBay profitable for the average person is this:

research what is selling on eBay:
Go to the library and go through a copy of the business directory and find WHOLESALERS that sell the product that eBay goers are looking for contact the wholesaler and work out a deal with them ask for great pricing in exchange for you selling their product as part of the deal, arrange for them to ship directly to your customers So, basically, you are acting as a retailer for them. They benefit, by getting sales with no overhead, and you benefit by being able to be competitive on eBay and not having the headaches of storing, packing, and shipping! It is a wonderful win-win agreement!

If you do choose the antiques and collectibles route, there are great resources out there to teach you how to do it as profitably as possible. My favorite is Starting an eBay Business for Dummies.

And, as a resource to market your eBay auctions for even better profits, I would definitely recommend Seth Godin's book Permission Marketing. It is a MUST for growing your eBay business and keeping customers coming back to your auctions again and again. The key is turning strangers into friends and friends into customers!

Three Killer Strategies For Finding Wholesale Products

Finding good wholesale products and sources for your business can be one of the most difficult tasks that you face when starting a new enterprise.

It can cost you a ton of time and money. But there are some things you can do in your search for wholesalers, liquidators, drop-shippers and other wholesale companies to make sure that your searching doesn't leave you empty-handed.

There are lots of ways to locate wholesalers, but here are three great strategies to get you started:

STRATEGY #1: Start At The Top and Work Your Way Down.

If you already know the manufacturer of the product that you are searching for at wholesale, then the manufacturer is the first company you need to contact.

Now, maybe you are just starting out and your company is too small to deal directly with the manufacturer or maybe you don't have the money to buy wholesale in large quantity. That's OK, you still need to contact the manufacturer first. Even if you want to buy directly from them, they may not sell to you, they may send you to their authorized wholesale distributors.

They may also be able to send you to a dropshipper who could dropship the products directly to your customers so you don't have to stock any inventory. It will depend on the company. Either way, your goal is to find out where you can purchase their products at wholesale prices.

When you call them, be sure to tell them the name of your business. They don't sell to individuals just looking for "good deals." That's why they have retailers.

For example, your conversation might go something like this: They Say: "Good Morning, ABC Manufacturing how may I direct your call?" You say: "Good Morning, This is YOUR NAME with YOUR COMPANY NAME. I'm in charge of wholesale purchasing and we are looking to add some of your products to our store. Who would I need to speak with?" From there, you should be well on your way to finding out where to get those products at wholesale.

STRATEGY #2: Contact Deptartment Stores and Retail Outlets About Their Overstocks.

Depending on what type of merchandise you are looking for, strategy #2 may be very beneficial for you. The first thing to do is to contact the home office of the stores that are retailing the product lines you are interested in. This may take you several phone calls to get somebody who knows (or who cares) but it will pay off for you.

Persistence is the key here. At first you will be talking with the receiptionist (who may be more interested in doing their nails or getting back to that trashy novel they are trying to read on company time.) But keep after it until you get the department that you need. What you are wanting to find out is who purchases their overstocks, liquidation, returns and closeout merchandise.

Many department stores sell to wholesalers and "jobbers" who in turn will sell to you on a wholesale level. The wholesaler / jobber will likely buy in bulk for way below wholesale and that's why they are able to still sell to you at wholesale prices. In some cases you may be able to buy the overstocks directly from the store if that is what you want.

STRATEGY #3: Attend A Wholesale Trade Show.

Yes, this one will cost you some time and money. Believe me, I know. I've attended more than one and I have the receipts to prove it. But if you go to a good show, the contacts that you come away with could be priceless to your business.

You will also return with many new product ideas that you never even thought of. And best of all, if you go to an industry-respected show, you know you will be getting real wholesale contacts. There are several wholesale tradeshows throughout the United States during the year.

If you don't have the time or money to visit a wholesale trade show or do all the research and phone calls, then I have some good news for you.

You can access my wholesale sources and dropshipper database on my website right now at: http://www.wholesaletoyouremail.com

In conclusion, With some persistence, phone calls and some leg-work, you will start to build a list of wholesalers from which to begin your business. I wish you much success!

Five Tested Ways To Find The Perfect Drop Shipper

You’ve heard about it many times in recent months. Being the business-minded person that you are, you most probably got curious and did a few research of your own. But resources seem to be few, and what meager data you’ve found made you wonder even more...

Is drop shipping a fact or a myth?

I can’t blame you. There are quite a lot of reasons why information about drop shipping haven’t fully invaded the internet marketing scene. The few sites that promise to teach you about this novel concept are usually full of crap. Often, they don’t even know the difference between a drop ship and a mother ship. They’d rather capitalize on the growing curiosity about the subject, and make a quick buck at your expense. But don’t let this discourage you.

Drop shipping is real, and it’s here, and it has made a number of people rich.

Those who know speak of it in hushed tones because it is a rewarding secret that they would rather keep within their circles. Case in point: visit an internet marketing discussion board. Look for a thread about drop shipping. You will find many posts there, but none would reveal the contact information for any drop shipper. Why is this so?

Drop shipping is a very lucrative option. You don’t have to make any financial investments. You don’t have to secure a warehouse to store your products. You don’t even have to worry about your buyer’s location and how to ship what you’re selling to his doorsteps. Drop shippers will take care of those problems.

All you have to do is to market the drop shipper’s products. Sell it for a retail price, with a markup of your choice. Then, once a customer buys what you offered, you’ll just simply pay the drop shipper the wholesale price of the product, and he’ll take care of the rest, including shipping. There will be no middleman, thus assuring you of maximum profit.

And yes, there’s no such thing as a minimum purchase.

The only problem really is: how do you find a drop shipper? Many offer their functions, but once you review their terms and conditions, you’d discover that their services hardly qualify as drop shipping.

So how do you find drop shippers? Better yet, how do you find the drop shipper that would be perfect for your needs? Here are some techniques that will surely help you in your crusade.

1) Try product sourcing first. The common mistake of people looking for drop shippers is that they’re not concerned about what products they’ll sell. This shouldn’t be the case. Remember, we cannot sell what we don’t believe in. We just can’t rely solely on what the drop shipper, if ever we find one, has to offer. We should at least have an idea of what we want to sell. Such would most certainly narrow down our search.

2) Avoid an agent. The purpose of establishing a direct contact with a drop shipper, aside from the convenience and the win-win situation it entails, is to keep the price as low as possible. An agent, or a middleman, who would offer you means of contacting a drop shipper, would be detrimental to keeping the cost low. Most certainly, the agent would receive a commission from your sales. This would inflate your retail price, making your offers less attractive.

3) Penetrate the circle. As mentioned earlier, people who know about drop shippers operate like a secret fraternity of marketers. Squeezing information out of them would be impossible. Well, almost impossible. Remember the saying “if you can’t beat them, join them?” This holds much truth in your search for the perfect drop shipper. Be on the lookout for someone who should know about drop shipping. Perhaps, he could be a drop shipper in disguise himself. Befriend him first before asking for his services. Chances are he’ll be the first one who’ll open up about his secret.

4) Know where to look. You can’t find any leads on drop shippers in an online dating site, that’s for sure. Try lurking in online discussion boards, particularly those which are dedicated to internet marketing. It would be quite easy to distinguish the people who know what they’re talking about from mere loudmouths. Once you’ve pinpointed these people, send them a friendly private message where you’ll ask for help regarding a topic that is not related to drop shipping. Thank them for their time once they reply, and assure them that you’ll be there when they would ever need help. You’ll be surprised how effective this method is!

Try credible online resources. There are indeed online sites that offer comprehensive directories of bona fide drop shippers worldwide. This is an excellent recourse for anyone who wishes to engage such service. There is a downside, however. All, and I do mean ALL, of these reliable resources demand a membership fee. The rates range from $50 to $200. Yes, that’s a clear indication of the general interest on drop shipping these days.

3 Dropshipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special "sales flyer" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

How to Drop Ship Products on Ebay

Let me start with an interesting eBay auction story!

I was experimenting with various ads and categories in eBay. There are many tools on the market that can help you locate what are called "Hot eBay Sales Items". A few years ago, eBay would put a small flame next to any item that received 10 or more bids. That would be considered a "hot" or "in demand" item.

If an item is in demand, it is simply good business logic to search for sources on the item so you can also sell them on eBay. While using a hot item search tool I noticed that high-end appliances (brands like Viking, Subzero and Thermador) had a very substantial number of bids.

I went to the Viking website, looked at their accessories for gas ranges, and proceeded to list one of the items on the website for $39 to test consumer response. This was $15 more than the price of $24 shown on the Viking website. I did call the Viking 800 number for customer service to make sure the item was in stock before I listed the item for sale, and also to verify that I could pay with a credit card and have the item shipped to a different address. Viking said, "yes" to both questions.

I was surprised to find the item sold after three days for the $39 price plus $6 shipping. I received payment from the eBay buyer, called Viking and placed the order to be shipped direct to the buyer with only a packing list.

This is a great example of how I set up a drop ship account. When you set up a drop ship account with a distributor or wholesale company, they will give you a discount on the retail price. I made money on this test transaction and sold it for more than retail.

I will now explain the process of drop shipping. Drop shipping a product means you are taking an order either from your own website, or an auction site such as eBay, Yahoo, Amazon, etc., receiving payment from the customer and then contacting the direct source of the product to have it shipped to the customer. You supply the name and address of your customer, thus eliminating your need to box and label the item. The drop-shipping source uses a "blind ship" label, which contains your business name and address, or just a plain packing slip with the package.

In a perfect world, the beauty of this is that you have no overhead expense. Overhead expenses include such items as rent for storing the product, interest on the money spent to buy the product, and labor involved in boxing and shipping the product. You also have no risk of overstocking product or slow moving product. The product is purchased from your direct source only after you have received an order from your customer.

Some of the potential problems with drop shipping are:

1. The drop shipper source runs out of the product you are listing for sale

2. Defective merchandise returns may have fees associated to you.

3. Customer support is out of your hands, which, if handled incorrectly, can negatively affect your feedback.

As with any business venture, there are risks and rewards that you have to balance to find out if the method works for you.

Drop shipping is also a good way to test new products, if you don't want to invest $500 or more on a minimum order to obtain resale pricing. You can list your item on your ecommerce or auction site and experiment with various titles and categories to see where the product will sell and what it will sell for. Any successful sales organization will tell you the key is to Test! Test! Test! Fine-tune your listings and products to find the best mix for you.

Use eBay to test your drop ship items. Remember, the information you gather on these products is very valuable to you. You may sell some items at or below cost for your testing purposes, but I have purchased volume loads of product prior to testing and then been saddled with them - even having to sell some for 50% of my cost. You will make mistakes - everyone does! Using eBay and other auctions sites to test new markets or new products via drop shipping eliminates any large risk before committing to a product line.

eBay Drop Shipping is the Future

We all pretty much know that Ebay is this Internet phenomenon that is making billions of dollars by hosting online auctions. Basically, people post things they want to sell and buyers browse the site for the things they want to purchase. Eventually, buyers and sellers meet up and the bidding process begins. But, the Ebay business website is also a place where drop shippers come to unload their wares as well.

Drop Shipping Basics

The term has started to catch on in the mainstream but there are still a lot of people out there that don't know exactly what drop shipping actually is. Basically, drop shipping is sales. Let's say that company A sells product X. Now company A does not sell directly to the public but you can buy their products at stores around the country.

But stores, like the Ebay business machine, operate to make a profit. Therefore, they must charge more than they paid for the product in order to make their profit. So, they either buy the product X directly from the manufacturer or from a distributor at wholesale price and then turn around and sell the product at retail price. The difference between those two prices is their profit.

In drop shipping, you become the retailer. The interesting thing about drop shipping is you do not need a store or even an inventory to sell your products. With the help of the Ebay business machine, you actually don't even need a website either.

Drop Shipping Mechanics

So how exactly does drop shipping work? First of all, you find a wholesaler that is selling products you are interested in reselling to the public. After setting up an account with them, they send you product descriptions of all their products or at least those you are interested in selling. If you do not have a website, you can post these product descriptions on the Ebay business website.

When a customer decides to buy one of your great products, they place an order and send their payment (including shipping costs) to you via credit card. You pass this order along to the wholesaler along with your payment.

The great thing about being a drop shipper is that this is where your involvement ends! The wholesaler then processes the order and then ships the product directly to your customer-but with your company name on the packaging! The customer never knows that they are actually receiving the product from a wholesaler and you are pocketing the difference between the wholesale and retail price! Could it possibly be any simpler?

By using Ebay to advertise your products and benefiting from their incredible traffic flow, you are really reaping the whirlwind at almost no cost and with very little effort. And since retail price is roughly double that of wholesale, just imagine the profits you can make drop shipping! No store to maintain, no inventory to worry about, and no large investment of money-this, friends, is the miracle of drop shipping and why it is definitely the future! There are literally thousands of companies looking for people to sell their products so there are opportunities everywhere right now! By using Ebay, you could literally be selling products within a day and making huge profits so don't delay-start your drop shipping business today!
